Add a battery and expect about AED 15,000 to 40,000 more. Most published 10 kWp prices sit between AED 3,850 and 4,750 per kWp.

Key findings

  • A 10 kWp villa system costs about AED 41,000 at the median published price of AED 4,125 per kWp, including panels, inverter, installation and approvals.
  • Smaller systems cost more per kWp. A 5 kWp system works out at about AED 4,650 per kWp, 13% more, because design, approvals and meter costs don't shrink with the system.
  • Prices vary widely. Published 10 kWp prices range from AED 28,000 to 100,000. That spread is why comparing at least three itemized quotes matters.
  • Payback is about 7 years for a typical villa. A home using 4,500 kWh a month saves about AED 490 a month on average, more in summer when use hits the higher price slabs. A 5 kWp system on a home using 3,000 kWh a month pays back in about 9 years.

How we calculate it

Each month we collect installed prices for villa rooftop systems published by UAE installers, property portals and price guides. Where a source gives a range, we take its midpoint and convert it to a price per kWp. The index is the median of those midpoints, so a single very high or very low figure does not move it much. Prices include equipment, installation and approvals; batteries are listed separately.

Payback uses the same model as our savings calculator: twelve months of use priced on the DEWA residential slabs (top slab 38 fils per kWh plus a fuel surcharge of 6 fils in October 2026, and 5% VAT), 1,550 kWh a year per kWp of panels, and spare solar credited and used in later months. It assumes an expat account in Dubai and no battery.

As homeowners use our quote checker, we will add the anonymized average of real quotes to the index once there are enough each month to be meaningful.

Questions

How much does solar cost for a villa in the UAE in November 2026?

The median published price for a 10 kWp villa system is about AED 4,125 per kWp, or about AED 41,000 installed, before any battery. Smaller 5 kWp systems cost more per kWp, about AED 4,650, or about AED 23,000 in total.

What is a fair price per kWp for rooftop solar in Dubai?

Most published prices for a 10 kWp villa system sit between AED 3,850 and AED 4,750 per kWp installed. A quote well above that range deserves questions about what is included; one well below it deserves questions about panel and inverter brands and warranties.

How long does solar take to pay back in Dubai?

At the median price, a 10 kWp system on a villa using 4,500 kWh a month pays back in about 7 years, saving about AED 490 a month on average. A 5 kWp system on a home using 3,000 kWh a month takes about 9 years.

How is the UAE Solar Price Index calculated?

We collect installed prices for villa systems published by UAE installers, property portals and price guides, take the midpoint of each range, and report the median, so one very high or very low source does not move the result. Payback uses the same month-by-month tariff model as our savings calculator.

Prices are published estimates, not offers, and change with equipment costs and roof type. Confirm with itemized quotes. Next edition: early next month.
